I had the pleasure of attending the Rose Bowl flea market this past Sunday, one of the largest and most famous flea markets around. I build the pieces in my Deja Vu collection around exotic treasures, so I was on a search for rare vintage components as well as some unique display materials for my shows. Entering this world of countless tokens of bygone days is a magical and somewhat overwhelming experience. With so much to see, I had to be very judicious in my purchasing and make sure not to get too swept away in the magic of the flea market. It's easy for something to look fabulous in the context of the flea market and then turn out to just feel weird and out of place in other environments. That being said, I very carefully selected some gorgeous pieces for repurposing, including a signed vintage super chunky gold necklace I plan on adorning with some interesting charms and pendants as well as a maltese cross from c. 1930. I look forward to reinventing these treasures with my own little spin on them for today's stylish lady. I also have a few new finished pieces made from vintage components that I will be adding to my Deja Vu collection soon. Also, be sure to see many of my vintage infused one-of-a-kind and limited edition necklaces at the new Hidden Boutique in the Jeanie Madsen Gallery in Santa Monica.
