Celebrating Success of Educate's 1st Annual Ball for Uganda
Posted on February 17 2010
Educate!, the Colorado and Uganda-based organization for which my Empower line was created, had their Annual Ball in Boulder last Saturday and raised over $25,000 for educational programs in Uganda. The money raised allows Educate! to empower the 830 students in 24 high schools across Uganda currently enrolled in the Educate! Experience, an innovative two-year curriculum focusing on social change, mentorship, and leadership that equips students with the skills and confidence necessary to transform their communities. I was happy to donate my always popular Olympus necklace for their silent auction, and Educate! members also sold some pieces from my Empower line at the event. I chose “Olympus” because it is a classic and beautiful piece (with of course the requisite dose of flavor and personality) that is very wearable and not too hard to pull off. Reflecting upon it now, I think it’s fitting that this necklace is comprised of gold and silver chains of all different designs and lengths that each unite at a common point- the beautiful golden leaf. I’m grateful that I can be a small link in the chain of goodwill towards a higher goal and purpose, simply by contributing something that I enjoy doing. Golden indeed.

Party-goers peruse the auction table. I’m loving this lady’s gorgeous flower.
Enjoying the evening.
